Located at 28°04′04″N 80°33′42″W, Melbourne Beach is situated on a barrier island that separates the Indian River Lagoon from the Atlantic Ocean. The town has a total area of 1.3 square miles (land 1 sq. mile, water .4 sq. miles). Elevation: 10 ft. As of the 2010 census, there were 3,101 people with 1,499 households and 992 families residing in Melbourne Beach. The median age of residents is 47.4. Our zip code is 32951.

Melbourne Beach is adjacent to the Archie Car National Wildlife Refuge, home to the most important sea turtle nesting habitat in the United States. More loggerheads nest within the Carr Refuge than anywhere else in the Western Hemisphere.
