From Brevard County Emergency Management:
Prepare for Hurricane Season: Hurricane season runs from June 1 through Nov. 30. Prepare now so you’re ready long before a storm forms.
Why it matters: Early preparation reduces stress, prevents last minute shortages, and helps protect your family and property.
Your 5 steps to readiness:
1️⃣Know your risk — understand how vulnerable your home is to strong winds, heavy rains and flooding and storm surge
2️⃣Build a kit — gather supplies you’ll need if services go down
3️⃣Have a plan — have an evacuation destination and know when you'll evacuate prior to a storm's arrival
4️⃣Stay informed — get alerts from trusted sources
5️⃣Get involved — help strengthen community resilience
