The Town of Melbourne Beach is accepting applications for a new Technology Advisory Board. The mission of the Board is to assist the Town in reviewing technology-related items before the Commission and provide recommendations to the Town Commission and Town Manager.

Desired skillsets for applicants include:

Information Technology (IT)

  • Experience with networks, servers, cloud services
  • Understanding of cybersecurity protocols
  • Knowledge of municipal IT needs and best practices

Cybersecurity

  • Risk assessment and mitigation strategies
  • Data privacy laws and policies (e.g., NIST, PII)
  • Incident response planning

Data Analytics

  • Use of data for civic decision-making
  • Data governance, privacy, and open data policies
  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

Software Development and Systems Integration

  • Municipal software selection and evaluation
  • Website or Graphic design
  • Interoperability between systems

Civic Engagement and Communication

  • Tools for public feedback and participation (e.g., digital town halls)
  • Social media and digital communications strategy
  • Transparency tools and dashboards
