CAUTION: Please be advised that the area south of the 6th Avenue boat ramp has been cordoned off and is closed to the public. The ramp and remainder of the park is still usable, but please stay clear of the south section.
UPDATE: We have just been informed that SeaWorld is releasing Melby early, around 10:15 this morning. If you have not made your way to Ballard Park, now is the time!
Melby - the manatee that was miraculously rescued from a stormwater pipe in February - is scheduled to be released on Tuesday, April 7th at 11:00 AM! His release will take place at Ballard Park: 924 Thomas Barbour Drive, Melbourne. The public is invited to join in this exciting culmination of Melby's recovery.
Your help is needed - the Rotary Club has set up a Go-Fund-Me to offset the cost of Melby's rehabilitation and release, fund manatee stormwater pipe protection, and provide lagoon stewardship to protect manatee habitats. Please consider making a donation at the link below and share this fundraiser with friends and family!
