Brevard County residents have the opportunity to dispose of old tires in an environmentally friendly way and help reduce mosquito breeding grounds and the spread of mosquito-borne diseases. Brevard County Mosquito Control, in partnership with Brevard County Solid Waste Management and the Florida Department of Health in Brevard, is hosting a Tire Amnesty Day on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Florida Department of Health in Brevard, located at 2555 Judge Fran Jamieson Way, Viera.
This event is free of charge and open to Brevard County residents only. A valid driver’s license is required as proof of residency. Participants may drop off up to 10 tires per household, without rims. Please note that commercial businesses are not eligible to participate.
Proper disposal of old tires is a crucial step in preventing mosquito breeding, as stagnant water in discarded tires creates an ideal environment for mosquito larvae. By participating in this event, residents can help protect their community from mosquito-borne diseases and contribute to a healthier environment.
Additionally, Brevard County Mosquito Control will be distributing native mosquitofish at the event. Mosquito fish are a natural and effective way to help control mosquito populations by feeding on mosquito larvae in standing water.
