The Brevard County Office of Natural Resources Management is in the process of installing landscaping in the Town’s beach accesses and Ocean Park. While the landscaping is primarily proposed to help reduce light sources during sea turtle nesting season, it will also help prevent erosion, reduce wind velocity, and provide aesthetic value.
The exact locations for the landscaping are:
· 1st Avenue Beach Access
· 3rd Avenue Beach Access
· 4th Avenue Beach Access
· 5th Avenue Beach Access
· 6th Avenue Beach Access
· Avenue A Beach Access
· Avenue B Beach Access
· Ocean Park
There is no cost to the Town of Melbourne Beach for this work. The plantings are also consistent with the Town’s breezeway ordinance as related to the installation of landscaping. Authorization to participate in this project was granted by the Town Commission in November 2006.
