The Town of Melbourne Beach collects Social Security Numbers for the following purposes:
- Tax Reporting
- Salary and Benefit Enrollment, Processing and Reporting
- Identification, Background and Credit Checks
- Compliance with Government Employment Reporting and Verification
- Police Statements and Arrests for Verification of Identity
- Any Other Collection Required By Law

This written policy was adopted by the Town of Melbourne Beach Commission via Resolution 2008-02 on January 23, 2008, in compliance with Section 119.071(5), Florida Statutes (2007).
