Biography
Commissioner April Evans has been a resident of Melbourne Beach since 1997 and was elected to the town commission in 2006.
Her prior experience with the legislative process includes working as an aide in both the Georgia General Assembly and the United States House of Representatives in the 1970s and early 80s. She was member of the American Business Women's Association and the American Association of University Women in previous decades. She was also the charter president of the Clayton County League of Women Voters.
Her past and present services to the town include acting as the town's representative to the Melbourne Beach Library Board and serving as the town's alternate to the Space Coast League of Cities.
Commissioner Evans graduated from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and completed her first year of law school. She has two adult children, and has owned and managed several successful businesses, including her bookkeeping/training consultant business of the past 12 years. She became involved in Coastal Poodle Rescue in 2007 as a foster parent. In her leisure time she enjoys cooking, entertaining, and renovating and improving her home.
