Activities:

·        Attended Brevard County Summit primarily dealing with the impact of property tax reform measures on local government jurisdictions.

 

·        Attended meeting with representatives from Brevard County Fire Rescue and various municipalities to discuss a draft report prepared for the County Commission to present the benefits of the 1st Responder Program.

 

·        Participated in the selection and interview process for the new Town Clerk.

 

·        Attended monthly membership meeting of the Space Coast League of Cities with presentation on Communities for a Lifetime Program.

 

·        Attended Parks Board meeting to evaluate the 2008 Founders Day event.

 

·        Attended Board of Adjustment meeting. Approval was granted to operate an eating and drinking establishment for Sand on the Beach (former Boomerang’s). This approval included a number of conditions related to its operation and design. The Final Order outling the associated conditions will be prepared for consideration by the Board of Adjustment at its regular meeting on June 19th. The Board also granted the requested variance to allow the utilization of five (5) off-street parking spaces which will require the First Avenue beach access for maneuvering. These spaces are all contained on the property owned by Sand on the Beach.

 

·        Met with representatives of the History Center Board to discuss the use of revenue derived from rentals.

 

·        Public Works staff began repainting stop bars and crosswalks throughout Town.

 

·        Public Works staff initiated placement of wheel stops at Ocean Avenue parking spaces in front of Ryckman Park in lieu of wooden posts.
