Activities:

·        Attended Police Pension Board meeting to conduct hearing regarding disability pension for former Police Department employee.

 

·        Attended Planning and Zoning Board meeting. Actions taken include:

 

1.)    Discussion regarding Special Exception Uses in the commercial zoning districts and the criteria for granting such special exceptions.

2.)    Recommended approval of the site plan for proposed recreational uses at 2051 Atlantic Street (Breakers East).

3.)    Continued discussions regarding the application of “green” objectives for the Town of Melbourne Beach until July, 2008.

4.)    Initiated discussion regarding amendments to the walls and fences regulations.

 

·        Participated in meeting to discuss advantages and disadvantages of using the State Retirement Plan for Police Department employees.

 

·        Attended Parks Board meeting to discuss preparations for Founders Day.

 

·        Met with representative of Brevard County Traffic Engineering Department to discuss changes to the Oak Street/Ocean Avenue traffic signal.

 

·        Attended meeting of Brevard County Management Association to receive update of current Legislative session.

 

·        Attended meeting with Brevard County to discuss maintenance of signs at beach accesses and received copy of lifeguard report as prepared by Brevard County Fire Rescue/Ocean Rescue.

 

·        Attended meeting with Brevard County School District, Brevard County and representatives from various municipalities to discuss school concurrency.

 

·        Attended Board of Adjustment meeting. The variance application requesting construction of an accessory building in the front yard at 402 Riverside Drive was denied. This application was continued from the March 20, 2008 Board of Adjustment meeting.
