Attended
Board of Adjustment meeting. A continuance was granted for the hearing to
consider a Special Exception application for the proposed Sand on the Beach
restaurant. The hearing was continued until the March 20, 2008 Board of
Adjustment meeting at 6:30p.m.

Met with representatives proposing a Walgreens store to review revised building and landscape
plans.
·
Met with representatives from the History
Center Board to discuss procedures for renting the facility to individuals
and organizations.
·
Submitted grant application under the Emergency
Management Preparedness and Assistance Trust Fund Program requesting $192,475
for the replacement of an emergency generator sufficient to power the entire
Town Hall Complex, including the Police, Fire, and Public Works Departments.
·
Met with representatives of Melbourne Beach
Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. to discuss proposed Operating Agreement
between the Town of Melbourne Beach and the Corporation.
·
Attended web site development presentation.
·
Received 90% engineered plans for stormwater
improvement for 6th and Harland Avenues under the Hazard
Mitigation Grant Program. An application to permit the proposed improvements
is being prepared. Once the permit is approved, the project will be bid in
accordance with grant requirements.

Advertised for the sale of one (1) Police
Department vehicle and the former vehicle used by the Fire Chief.
·
Conducted meeting with employees to review
changes in the medical, dental, and life insurance plans effective March 1, 2008.
·
Attended Planning and Zoning Board meeting.
Actions taken include:
1.) Finalized
recommendation of an Ordinance to amend portions of
the Land Development Code regarding the
description and
location of
the coastal construction control line. To be presented
for Town Commission consideration at
its regular meeting to be
held on February 20, 2008.
2.) Finalized
recommendation of an Ordinance to amend references
to the
Building Code contained in the Land Development Code.

3.) Initiated
discussions regarding allowable Special Exception uses and the development of
standards for granting Special Exception Permit Applications.
4.) Discussed
the application of “green” concepts for the Town of
Melbourne
Beach.
